Daimones Picture

For a project recently I had to come up with creative section headings, and I ended up choosing names from the Greek daimones. So then I set about drawing section header pages and a cover page, which was kind of a project in and of itself. This is my cover page with all six daimones.

Daimones are divine personifications of aspects of the human condition in Greek mythology. From left to right on top: Moirae, the Fates, probably the most well known; Alethia, Truth; and Pothos, Sexual Longing, for whom my initial concept was a tanuki until I realized that I couldn't do Japanese things for Greek deities and also, I don't want to draw a tanuki for that. On the bottom: Deimos, Dread Fear, which is also the name of one of the moons of Mars (the other one is Phobos, Deimos' brother, and the origin of the word phobia); Keres, Violent Death, who--no matter how hard I tried--I could not get to look like anyone other than Shizuo Heiwajima (I just started reading Durarara!!); and Penthos, Grief.

Section pages with individual daimones will be coming soon.
