Vismund Cygnus Picture

Vismund Cygnus is the first track of The Mars Volta album titled 'Francis the Mute'.

The lyrics to which may be found here [link]

According to an interview with one of the band members about what inspired the albums track names, "The story is inspired by a diary that Jeremy found in the backseat of a car while working as a repo man," singer/lyricist Bixler-Zavala. "He discovered he had a lot in common with its author. He kept it and let us in on it. The diary told of the author being adopted and looking for his real parents. The names of each song are named after people in the diary. Each person he meets sort of points him in the direction of his biological parents."

Cygnus is also the name of a constellation in the northern sky.

The constellation Cygnus supposedly represents, in Greek mythology, the swan form taken by Zeus when he raped Leda - who was the mother of Helen of Troy, Clytemnestra, and twins Castor and Pollux, who are represented by the constellation Gemini.

The lyrics:
"Now this train don’t lie
An abortion that survived
A lineage of
Bastard mastication
All the severed proof
Talons scratch my suit
These are the feathers
That replace them..." seems to echo the mythological story line.

If you have a chance to listen to the song, do it.

I did the entire time while working on this picture, which is not one person, but 8 different people's features taken apart and recombined into one.
