Pandora Picture

Acrylic painting done in Art IB depicting that classical Greek myth of Pandora, with a modern twist. The symbols that erupt from the chest represent the evils she released, and from left are the signs for radiation, biohazardous, anarchy, toxic, hope as a candle, poison, and chaos.

The silver words are from Humpty Dumpty, and like most of those wonky fairy tales, have a bunch of much deeper interpretations. In any case, included is:

All the king's horses,
And all the king's men,
Couldn't put Humpty
Together again...

One interpretation being of course that our jolly egg man is the world, and something has happened to change it in such a way that it can never go back to the way it used to be...much like Pandora.

The original was sold to my vice principal Mr. Baldwin for...uh...low $200s? Or just under $200...anyhow, I took most of the money and donated it to the Kid's Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta, which I was raising money for at the time for a head shave.
