Pandora - GMO Card 45 Picture

Medium: Acrylics and coloured pencil
Size: 8.5"x11"
Represents: Hope
Reference: My beautiful friend Lanny

It is done. Pandora, the last card for the oracle deck, is finished. After posting her over at my forum, I promptly burst into tears. As I said there, I feel as if I have just finished climbing a mountain in time to see the sun set over a sea of clouds. That stillness that comes at dawn and dusk is here, and I can now sit in silence and just breathe for a few days.

Pandora has led me a merry dance. When I first began to paint her, I hated her, but I persevered. It's quite curious, but after rereading the card meaning, I find myself knowing that she is perfect. She was created through chaos, strife, anguish, hate, confusion, and a great deal of the negative emotions that I experienced over the first few days I was working on her, but then last night something changed ... I suddenly felt at peace again. I had Hope again -- a hope that she would be just what I needed and just what she was meant to be in the end.

And she is.

In some ways, I'm still quite confused by her though. When I look at her up close, nothing seems to be right, but when I step back and look at the big picture from a distance that allows me to see -everything- then she takes on a whole new energy and is gorgeous. Maybe that is what Hope is all about, yes? We allow ourselves to get lost, caught up in the maelstrom of negative energy, unable to fight our way free ... but maybe if we step back and look at the bigger picture we can find a solution that works. It gives us Hope.
