A quick lesson in Greek Mythology for those who don't know who Persephone is.

Persephone was a beautiful young maiden.
She was picking flowers one day.
Along came Hades the God of the Underworld.
He saw Persephone and fell in love with her.
Hades kidnapped her and took her to the Underworld.
Persephone said "Oh Crap"
Anyone who eats whilst in the Underworld is trapped forever.
Persephone's mother missed her daughter.
She was pissed off, and cursed the world into famine.
Hades tricked Persephone into eating six pomegranate seeds.
Hades was a bastard.
They struck a deal though.
Persephone would stay in the Underworld six months of the year.
That's one month for every seed she ate.
The other months she could return to the land of the living.
When Persephone returned, the curse was lifted.
However, each time Hades took her back to the Underworld, the curse returned.
This is how the Greeks explained the Seasons.
Winter occurs when Persephone is in the Underworld.

So, here I have Persephone gazing into a magical mirror that shows her the land of the living blanketed in snow, making Persephone sad.
