Frashokereti Picture

From the Avestan Language's "making wonderful, excellent", the Frashokereti is a series of events which according to the Zoroastrian Doctrine will follow by the end of days, a final renovation when the metaphysical evil, represented by Angra Mayniu, will be terminated, and everything else will be turn back to the original unity with God (Ahura Mazda). The Frashokereti is thought to be literally the return of things back to its original state when -according to the Zoroastrian doctrine- there was no evil, thus everything will be part of Ahura Mazda.

The eschatological idea of the Frashokereti is alluded in the Avestan documents, as one of the most ancient forms of doomsday belief, dating around the 9th Century b.C. Following the dualist nature of Zoroastrian cosmogony, the Frashokereti has inspired major depictions of the unnatural battles of a metaphysical good, often associated with light, and a shadowy metaphysical evil. Although eschatologically pioneer, the Zoroastrian faith has had many inspiration from even elder cosmological systems, such as those where the aethereal gods of light, often depicted as the developers of an order over the universe, were the most feared or respected by the faithful people (for example Zeus in the Hesiodic myth, the Hurrian God Teshub [derived from the Hattian Taru], or even the hebrew's YHWH, called even in the bible as the canaanite 'baal' [meaning lord] or 'molok' [meaning king], or yet El Elyon, a canaanite god, father of Yaw and Hadad/Baal, whose name is shared with YHWH).

The monotheist dogma of Zoroastrianism is syncretically equivalent to that of the Atenists brought by Akhenaten previously in Egypt, and later by the hebrew people mentioned in the bible, Ahura Mazda himself, through the Faravahar, draws influence from the Assyrian head deity, Anshur, equaled by the own assyrians to the elder Sumerian sky impersonator Anshar. Like Aten is thought to have fought Apep, Teshub fought Illuyianka, Hadad fought Yam, Yahweh fought Leviathan and Jove fought Typhon, Ahura Mazda shall defeat Angra Mayniu according to the ancient eschatology of the Avesta.

In the Cuetzpalin mythos (my still in development personal comic project), Ahura Mazda, alternatively known as Ohrmuz, seeks to become Ohr Ain Soph, known in the Qabbalah as the endless light (being Ain Soph something like God before his emanation, before limiting a space for creation. Similar to that is Ahura Mazda, usually referred as unborn god), by defeating Angra Mayniu. Angra Mayniu, despite taken as a nemesis by Ahura Mazda and his several avatars, the one depicted here being the horned thunder god Hadad-Baal, is originally one of the nine elementals who came into being, the "Macabraic" Spirit of lack of photonic energy (therefore Phantom Dark Energy/shadows), called by his own as Tupaq (quechua for "noble"). Tupaq is the spirit of the expansive force of the universe, but also of the Black Holes and the one whose inner organism, the Anaghra Lemah, is the fate of all wicked during the Frashokereti, it's the Absolute Darkness, characterized by Angra Mayniu's aspect as "Gannag Menog" ("Stinking Spirit").

Although Ahura Mazda seeks to become Ohr Ain Soph, it's well known that no creation could ever come if not by the coming of metaphysical evil, as already presented through the Qliphoth, there's the thought that any limitation from an original, single god, into another space would either duplicate or divide its divine nature into other forms, that ultimately leads to the tenth qliphah, the Thaumiel (which is something like "separation from god"). While the Right Hand Path Qabbalah traditions seeks one's return to a state without sin, that of Adam kadmon, which is the man nearer god (an ignorant figure which used to dwell in Eden and only knew to fear God's orders), the Qliphoth, opposed to the tree of life, is represented by the tree of knowledge and leads one to the further division from god (Adam Belial). Exceeding the separative states of Malkuth, the qliphoth goes deeper into the abyss, into the darkness where the light of god barely shines. That syncretical comparison to the qabbalistic traditions deals with the expansive nature of the universe, that either by becoming through the Big Bang or not, irrevocably expands, as every time, the dark matter increases the distance between the astral bodies.

The Frashokereti is an eschatological tradition which foresees the turning of all back into the original state through the supposed triumph of an aethereal, light god, rooted in the simplified views present in any other monotheist perception, that tries to join all the aspects of life into one or two entities, one good and other evil. The Zoroastrian faith, though, isn't as presumptuous and erroneous as that of the abrahamic traditions, when it comes to evaluate that Ahura Mazda, despite omnipresent and omniscient, isn't omnipotent - yet. Only when the Frashokereti does come about and Angra Mayniu is utterly defeated he'll become omnipotent as well. Otherwise, how could a good god let there be such evil crawling in the world? Why would he find joy in testing the misery of mortals, cursing them for their father's sins?

However, just as Ohrmuz has his eschatological aims, Tupaq, also known as Chernobog, has his own, that is the Big Rip, the accelerated expansion of the universe that hypothetically shall extinguish all matter and energy of the universe, leaving only space, darkness, and souls of most people that wouldn't manage to exist as their own in the Anaghra Lemah. By one way or another, by the metaphysical natures of being and 'not being', Tupaq and Baal, like poles, might detain hegemonical exercises over creation. Through the Big Rip or through the Human Automation, no matter if people join or divide to fight those, they're like cattle for the gods, and their attitudes are mere reproductions for them. Tupaq possesses the Scythe carved from the trunk of Cipactli, a Hueheunahual which was firstborn of Khaos, but Hadad possesses the mighty mace Sharur, smasher of thousands. How will succeed this battle? How will end up the "Frashokereti"?
