Danae's Shower Picture

Part of a series of items for Misogyny in Mythology (Version II).
Danae was the daughter of the king of Argos, Acrisius, who had no male heirs. After consulting an oracle, he was told that he would be killed by his daughter's son. Danae had no children at that time and, meaning to keep it so, he locked her away in a bronze tower (or cave). Zeus came to Danae in the form of golden rain and impregnated her against her will. She later gave birth to Perseus.
