Medusa's Tea Party Picture

Okay, so this is for ElysianSkies's fashion design contest.

1. Choose a mythological/magical creature as your theme and write or link a short description in your artist comments.
2. Design a costume for the carnival in Venice for a woman, pay attention to detail and go as crazy and creative as you like/can. (play with shapes and structures)
3.Design a mask, fitting your theme and also pay attention to the hair/hat
4. Must be a colored piece!

I was planning to do a Medusa drawing, and then suddenly this theme came up.

A little explanation about Medusa :
In Greek mythology, Medusa was a gorgon, a chthonic female monster; gazing upon her would turn onlookers to stone. She was beheaded by the hero Perseus, who thereafter used her head as a weapon until giving it to the goddess Athena to place on her shield.

There are two versions of Medusa known in Greek's Myth, First, Medusa was described as an ugly, monstrous creature.
Second,Medusa was originally a beautiful maiden, "the jealous aspiration of many suitors," priestess in Athena's temple, but when she was raped by the "Lord of the Sea" Poseidon in Athena's temple, the enraged goddess transformed her beautiful hair to serpents and she made her face so terrible to behold that the mere sight of it would turn a man to stone.

I'm trying to incorporate her beauty and monstrosity in this costume. I chose the Red, Gold, and Black for the colour scheme.
Red: The colour red could be translated as a symbol of feminity, or also blood. Medusa was beheaded by Perseus, so this time red represents her blood.
Gold: Is the royal colour. Medusa and her other two sisters Stheno and Euryale were the children of ancient marine deities Phorcys and Ceto.
Black: Is a dark and mysterious colour. It represents her monstrosity.

Corsette top, Thai silk for the red gown and embroidered Greek 'key' pattern adorned the seams and waist band.
If you look closely, you can see that the upper corset was made to resemble a serpents head, the golden silk draperies on her skirt will give the illusion of serpents' abdomen.

And the mask is adorned by feathers, golden snake and jewels.
