Pantheon - Hestia Picture

Hestia - A lesser-known goddess of the hearth, the home, and the family. She received the first offerings at every home, and the flame of the hearth was never allowed to go out without a ritual extinguishing and renewal. When her father began swallowing all of his children, she was the first to be born, and the first to be swallowed. But when her little brother, Zeus, forced his father to vomit his children back up, Hestia, being on the bottom, came out last, relegating her place to that of the youngest sister. Her brother Poseidon, Apollo, and even some of the younger generations sought to court her, but she swore to remain an eternal virgin.
