God of the Forest Picture

Pan has been a mythological figure for thousands of years, as a representation and personification of the flora and fauna of earth. In Greek mythology, Pan was one of the minor deities, not as well regarded as the Big Three( Zeus, Poseidon, Hades) but still powerful enough to be respected. When the Roman Empire came into power, the god of the wild was adopted into both their culture and mythos as Faunus. Over the course of centuries, there have been many variations of the god the wild. GotF interprets the legend and lore of Pan through eco-art.

GotF was created through two muses: from my own imagination, and partially from Guillermo del Toro's dark fantasy film "Pan's Labyrinth." GotF was created within a month, and involved a wire armature which was covered with a masking tape "skin" similar to my black widow sculpture.
