Tantalos Picture

Gauche on 22" by 30" European Paper

This is a project I did for Color Theory class during my second term at UCC 2011. It was the second picture in the portfolio I sent to the University of Oregon.
I made several stencils and applied the colors using a small foam roller. I decided that I triadic color scheme best fit this piece.
My question for the term surrounded desire. I was inspired by the story from the Odyssey about Tantalos who was doomed to float for eternity in a pool of water that he could not drink from and a tree that he could not eat the fruit from. I specifically put pomegranates in the tree as well not only because they were in the story but because that is also the fruit that Hades tricked Persephone into eating while in the underworld.
