Aphrodite

Not all of the Olympian Gods were the children of Cronus. Some say that Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, was the child of Zeus and a Goddess named Dione. But others insist that, as the most beautiful of all Goddesses, Aphrodite was born from the foam of the sea after the defeat of Uranus. As she walked on the beaches of Kythera and Cyprus, grass sprang to life under her feet and beautiful flowers began to bloom.

Aphrodite was the wife of Hephaestus, the lame blacksmith of the Gods. Her magic weapon was her girdle. Whoever wore it instantly became so attractive that people could not help falling in love with her. With this girdle, Aphrodite claimed the she was more powerful than Zeus himself, for even he could not resist its allure. However, sometimes Aphrodite got herself into trouble. She liked Ares, the God of War, very much, and one day Hephaestus found them kissing each other. He made a net from a mythical unbreakable material called Adamant, which he threw over the couple, and called on all the other gods to come and make fun of them while they were trapped. – Mythology Book.
