Ariadne, Princess of Crete Picture

According to the legend, King Minos of Crete had waged war on Athens and won.
Then he demanded that seven Athenian youths and seven maidens be sent every nine years (some accounts say every year) to be devoured by the Minotaur ( a creature that was part man and part bull wich dwelt on the Labyrinth of the Palace of Knossos).
When the third sacrifice came round, Theseus
volunteered to go to slay the monster. He promised to his father, Aegeus, King of Athens, that he would kill the beast.

Ariadne, Minos' daughter, fell in love with Theseus and helped him by giving him a magic sword and a ball of the red fleece thread she was spinning, so that he could find his way out of the Minotaur's labyrinth.
Theseus killed the minotaur and led the other Athenians back out the labyrinth.

This is a shot of a stone of the Palace of Knossos, where all this history happened about almost 5000 years ago.
I love mythology, and to be in this place was very cool to me!
