Echidna Picture

The title came to me when the painting was finished and I saw it matched a bit with the story of Echidna.

Echidna was a creature in the Greek mythology, whose parents were Tartaros, the god of the deepest underworld and his sister, the earth goddess Gaia. Echidna had the torso of a nymph while the lower part of the body was of a hiddeous snake. She lived in a cave where she mated with another monster, Typhon. Her spawn were some of the most notorious monsters in the Greek mythology: the Nemean Lion (a huge lion), Hydra (a dragon with multiple heads), Cerberus (three-headed dog that guarded the entrance to the kingdom of death, Hades), Chimaira (a beast that had a lion's head and body, a snake for a tail and a goat's head growing out of its back) and the Sphinx of Thebes (a monster with a woman's head, wings of a bird and a lion's body).
