darksilvania's Kyomi Picture

I HAVE NO COLOR SENSE WHATSOEVER, CAN YOU TELL?

As I was browsing through dA the other day, I came upon ~darksilvania's combo pokemon. Unlike other "mash two pokemon designs together", this was more of a conceptual mixing. This is Kyomi, a mix of Houndoom and Ninetails, as seen here: [link]

I thought the idea was awesome so I drew it up at 2 in the morning. So please excuse the horribly fucked up anatomy. And the slight artistic freedoms I took with the design.

JAPANESE LESSON FOR THE DAY:
So the name "Kyomi" is a romanized combo of 九尾 (kyuubi) meaning "Nine-tails" and 黄泉 (yomi) meaning "Yellow Springs", which is a name of the place where life began in Chinese mythology which was then transposed onto the "underworld" of Japanese mythology.

So to get the name "Kyomi" the closest would be 九黄泉 (kyuuyomi) which would sort of mean "Nine undeworlds". Pretty cool, no? But it gets even better.

There's another place in Chinese mythology called 九泉 or "Nine Springs". It's one of the many names for the place where life began and where souls go after they die and stuff like that. I'm not sure if the name was transposed into Japanese mythology or not, but I did find the phrase in a Japanese dictionary so I think it has. Since I thought it was pretty badass, I used that as it's "name" which I put on the picture.

You could pronounce 九泉 as "kyumi", but that would just be silly. The proper Japanese way to pronounce it would be "kyusen", since the Japanese have a billion ways to say and pronounce everything
