the Goddess Hel Picture

Hel (or Hella) is the goddess of the underworld Helheim in Norse mythology.
Sister to Fenris the Wolf & daughter of Loki.
Odin threw Hel there and gave her authority over those who do not die gloriously
in battle but of sickness or of old age. Half her body is dead, the other half living,
half her hair is black the other white. Her dwelling place is the hall Eliudnir which is
described as being a cold, desolate and lonely place.
The Christian underworld 'Hell' is named after her.
