Yara Picture

She is part of brazilian indigenous mythology and folklore
Yara, appears to unsunspecting fishermen as a gorgeous woman, swiming alone in the river. In fact she is a sort of siren like creature, who breathes underwater through a hole on the back of her neck, pretty much like the ones dolphins have.
Win ther beauty and charms, (she does not sing, like the greek sirens) she lures the men into the deep waters, where she then kills and devours them.

There is a male version of this creature too, who they call 'The Boto"... but unlike her female counterpart, Boto does not eat his victims (who are always young female virgins). He makes love to them, and get them pregnant.

I am just fascinated by all those old myths...
