Hound of Cullan Picture

This drawing is inspired by the Celtic myth of Cucullan, a great warrior in Irish mythology. The legend says that Cullan kept a huge hound to guard his castle. One night, his warriors heard a great noise, and when they ran out, found the hound dead at a boy's feet. The boy had killed the great dog with his bare hands. Cullan was sorrowful at the loss of his hound, so the boy pledged himself to guard the gate. He was called Cucullan, the Hound of Cullan, and became the greatest warrior in Irish myth. This piece is done in colored pencil and hand lettered in ink. Contact me if you are interested in prints. Thanks!
