Fall of Icarus Picture

The Fall of Icarus.

For those unfamiliar with the story of Icarus, he was the son of Daedalus, the inventor. After being banished to a remote island by King Minos, Daedalus made wings out of feathers and wax for himself and his son. When they escaped the island, the father cautioned Icarus not to fly too low or too high, as the feathers would get wet or the wax would melt. But Icarus was so overcome by the freedom of flight that he flew to high up and the wax melted, destroying the wings. Poor Icarus fell to his death as his stricken father watched helplessly.
