The Minerva System Picture

Planet Minerva and its seven largest moons.

A ringed gas giant who is 2.8 times the size of Jupiter, and nearly twice its mass. it orbits a white-blue main sequence star.

Named after the Greek goddess of poison and death mist. It has no atmosphere and no water. With heavy amounts of mercury in its rocks, there is by no means any chance life could survive here. The terrain and light gravity however is excellent for thrill-seeking astronaut athletes.

Minerva's answer to Saturn's Titan. It's name derives from the Chinese word "Jin-bu" which means "Progress". This moon is more Earth-like than Titan. But most of the Venusian clouds aren't even water vapor; they're iron vapor and smoke. What lies below the clouds in an artificial mass extinction caused by the paving of all land with factories, refineries, and garbage-burning power plants. It used to be somewhat cooler. But greenhouse gases from said facilities warmed the moon. Eventually it got to a point where the produced clouds actually began blocking sunlight. The whole world is now kept warm by the facilities and machines while insulated by the ashy blanket. At 80 degrees F, if even snows flakes of rust and glass.

This is the only airless moon that has almost no craters. It has mountains and fields of dust and pebbles. It was never seen until Kiqki discovers it on her tour of the system.

Minerva's answer to Jupiter's Europa. Named after the Greek goddess of soothing, this serene world has calming scenery, just from its harsh, featureless ice sheets and deep-blue cloudless skies. It's teeming with life under the ice.

Named after the Norse god of pranks and mischief, it deserves its name. For its eccentric orbit has it fling rocks from the rings and disrupting the orbits of several other moons. Pranksters get punished, and Loki has the craters from entering the rings once every 7 years.

Minerva's answer to Jupiter's Io. Its close orbit tugs and churns its insides where near-molten tectonic plates surface in the tide and sink in the current of its sea of magma. Named after the Norse goddess who drags seamen into the bottom of the ocean, Ran would "polish" the rings by flinging out excess rocks into Minerva's atmosphere.

Sif has a smelly atmosphere filled with strange life-forms. The air is tainted with spores and algae, the ground is carpeted by delicate mushroom-spheres, and colossal jellyfish puff their way through the yellow-green skies. Breathing the air unprotected is deadly, as spores may get into your lungs and fungi of all sorts grow out of you. In Norse Mythology, Sif (Thor's wife) had beautiful hair which was cut by Loki. In the Minerva system, an equal shenanigan happened as was observed when Loki approached Sif so closely, that it actually lightly scraped the surface. This resulted in a carved rift if Sif and Loki's eccentric orbit.
