MEDUSA Picture

In Greek mythology Medusa was a Gorgon, a chthonic monster, and a daughter of Phorcys and Ceto. The author Hyginus, interposes a generation and gives Medusa another chthonic pair as parents. Gazing directly upon her would turn onlookers to stone. She was beheaded by the hero Perseus, who thereafter used her head as a weapon until he gave it to the goddess Athena to place on her shield. In classical antiquity the image of the head of Medusa appeared in the evil-averting device known as the Gorgoneion. Medusa can also be referred to as the "Mistress of the West Gate of Death" because the location of her home is at the entrance of the Underworld. Medusa in Christian symbolism represents the dreaded enemy of death, and becomes the symbol of the devil.

I decided to paint Medusa because I really like her story and the whole character..
It took me about 10 hours, I used Wacom Intuos 4 and Photoshop CS4.
