Blodughadda AEgirsdottir Picture

Blodughadda is one of nine daughters of the sea giant Ägir and his wife Ran in Nordic Mythology. Each daughter has the name of a particular type of wave or sea.

According to one legend the nine daughters are the nine mothers of the Asa God Heimdall.

Blodughadda’s name means "she with the bloody hair" and represents the sea when it mixes with the blood of fallen warriors in a great sea battle. Who but Vikings would feel the need to have a special name for that?
