Asa-Thor in Utgard Picture

"Utgard-Lokes falske leik
Ei ussel, ei veik

~Einherjer - Hammar Haus

So, what we have here is an illustration to a great story from the prose Edda, inspired by the quoted Einherjer song.
The Æsir Thor and Loki, accompanied by Thor's servants Thjalfi and Roskva, were travelling in Jotunheim when they came to a great hall called Utgard. The chief of this hall, a certain giant called Utgarda-Loki, told them that "no one is allowed to stay here with us who does not have some art or skill in which he is superior to most people". I won't go into Thjalfi and Loki's crushing defeats, but here is Thor's first trial--a drinking contest. He was given a drinking horn filled with mead, and was told that a good drinker would be able to empty it in one draught, a lesser one in two, but none was so poor a drinker that he could not drain it on the third draught. After the first draught, the level of mead in the horn had barely gone down at all. He had no better luck on the second, and when he really pushed himself as hard as his lungs possibly could on the third, the level sunk quite a bit more, but the horn was still not nearly empty or even half-empty. I won't go in detail on the remaining two tasks, both of which ended in shame (as you'd guess), but it is later revealed that they were all clever illusions brought about by Utgarda-Loki, the sneaky bastard. The end of the drinking horn was actually dipped in the sea, so as you can imagine, Thor really had proved himself quite a formidable drinker when he actually made the level sink visibly.

Still experimenting with new shading. I daresay it works quite well. However, you might have noticed that while the people and objects in the drawing all have loads of nice shading done on them, they don't actually cast shadows. This is because if they did, poor young Thjalfi would just be a black silhouette--falling in the shadow of his master Thor both figuratively AND literally (I should become a fucken comedian). Some other areas would probably be obscured as well. And I didn't want that.
