Cader Idris Picture

Cader Idris, Snowdonia, Wales. June 2006. View from the Minfordd Path. Cader Idris, Snowdonia, Wales.

Legend has it that if you spend a night on the summit of Cader, you'll come down either a poet or a madman. A mountain of many legends, Cader Idris translates as 'Chair of Idris'. Idris was a giant who features in Welsh mythology, who was said to have used the mountain as an enormous armchair to gaze at the stars. It's certainly a beautiful and peaceful place, I love to swim in the glacial lake Llyn Cau and just take in the surrounding peaks.
