Thorablot Picture

This is a picture I did for Norse Mythology Blog's Midwinter Art Contest.

We had to combine a Midwinter Tradition with something from Norse Mythology.

So this is the Icelandic Midwinter Tradition of Þorrablót, where people have a feast and tell stories or recite poetry, this viking here is telling the tale of The Lay of Thrym where Thor has to put on a wedding dress and pretend to be Freya to get his hammer back. He just got to the part where Thor is ripping off the wedding dress and revealing who he is to the giants.

Note: This is Mythology Thor, not Marvel's Thor.
